Autumn

leave

You are so lovely
In your vulnerability
Letting go so freely
As your vivid colors
Slowly fade and fall
Gently at my feet

Aromas of hickory
Cinnamon and clove
Wrap me in a warm
Blanket of memories
That have hibernated
For far too long

Your kiss as crisp
And delicious as
A ripened red apple
Awakens my spirit
Invigorates my soul
And welcomes me home

Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again – L. Frank Baum
