Junkie

Junkie 8

A delicious
Taste of bitterness
Hangs upon your
Tongue
Your kisses
Biting, taunting
Begging me to
Run
My senses locked
In longing
Waiting for the
Sun
The opiate of passion
Love’s facade
Where there was
None

  1. Wonderful poem Lola. The addictive idea of love and sometimes our actions can be such a bitter pill, so well captured. Love the following,

    “The opiate of passion
    Love’s facade
    Where there was
    None”

Wishing you a beautiful day and a wonderful weekend. ~ Mia

    1. Thank you so much Mia. I am so glad my words connected with you. Love is a powerful drug, and passion like an opiate, can temporarily numb us to the reality of our situations, but it is a poor substitute for the real thing. The power of love for me is not in the taking, but in the giving and sharing. If I were to pair a video with this poem, as you so eleoquently do on your blog, I would choose “Love is the Drug” by Roxy Music. Maybe I will edit it in just for fun!
Enjoy your weekend too and thank your for being the inspiring rockstar you are!

      1. You are most welcome Lola. Thank you for a wonderful reply. Love seems to be all encompassing, no escaping any aspect of it, both the health and unhealthy. Agreed, it certainly can be a drug. I’m delighted to see that you added the video. I’m a big fan of Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry. Thank you for the well wishes, please take good care. ~ Mia
